Vans 60th Anniversary

This week marks the 60th anniversary of Vans, and somehow they’ve been part of quad skating history too.

They even dropped that Off the Wall skate in collaboration with ACS Trucks back in the day. But beyond that, models like the Vans Sk8-Hi found their own place in roller skating culture. Way before dialed setups and dedicated skate brands, a lot of us started with a pair of Vans, a plate, and some DIY courage. Vans weren’t made for roller skating, but that never stopped anyone. You bolted on wheels, maybe added some CIB blocks, and suddenly the bowl was calling.

Vans doesn’t make skates anymore, and it’s been a while since the vans built was the norm, but those memories still roll with us.

Happy 60th to a shoe that accidentally helped build a whole lane in quad skating culture 👟🤝🛼
