How to contribute to Rollfolk

Rollfolk is a community driven platform. This page is here to give you a general idea of how you can participate and what kind of contributions we’re excited to share. There are no strict rules, no deadlines, and no expectations of perfection.

If you care about roller skating, you’re welcome here.

What you can contribute

We’re open to many formats and perspectives, including but not limited to:

  • Personal stories and reflections.

  • Local scene reports and spot insights.

  • Interviews with skaters, crews, or organizers.

  • Historical pieces and archive digging.

  • Photo essays and visual storytelling.

  • Videos, edits, and short documentaries.

  • Illustrations, music and art related to rollerskating.

  • Opinion pieces and thoughtful conversations.

  • Event coverage and community initiatives.

If you’re not sure whether something fits, that’s okay. Reach out and let’s talk about it.

Who can contribute

Anyone.

Beginners, experienced skaters, organizers, artists, photographers, filmmakers, writers, and people who simply love roller skating culture.

You don’t need a big following, professional gear, or perfect writing. What matters is honesty, care, and respect for the community.

How to submit

For now, contributions can be shared by:

  • Sending us a short email with your idea.

  • Sharing a draft, notes, or an outline.

  • Submitting a finished piece if you already have one.

We’re happy to help with editing, structure, or polishing if needed. This is a collaborative process, not a test.

Tone and values

We ask all contributions to align with a few core principles:

  • Respect for all skaters and communities.

  • Inclusive and socially conscious language.

  • No hate, harassment, or discrimination.

  • Credit people properly and respect sources.

We welcome different opinions and experiences. Healthy disagreement is part of culture, but respect always comes first.

Ownership and credit

You keep ownership of your work.

We will always credit contributors clearly and link to your projects or platforms if you want.

If your work includes photos, videos, or archival material, please make sure you have the right to share it and credit everyone involved.

Looking ahead

Rollfolk is a DIY project, built with care and community support. As the platform grows, our goal is to create opportunities to support contributors whenever possible. For now, contributions are unpaid, but they are deeply valued and treated with respect.

If you have ideas on how Rollfolk can better support contributors in the future, we’re listening.
